I want run a media file on the web in Divx in stead of quicktime on my mac?

I can't ctl-click it and say 'open with' Divx as it just runs the file and trys to open with Quicktime, I don't want to download it locally. I have download the correct codec and player software and even tried to setup divx to run avi and mp4 files as default on files I did have stored locally. Whats wrong here?
