...protagonists who's a POC? Suggestions? POC stands for person of color, meaning a character that isn't of European descent. I'm really into fantasy, sci-fi, and mystery novels but a lot of the time its very hard for me to find one that doesn't have the main protagonist being white. I'm not saying I have anything against white people or anything of that nature. I was just in the mood for something different and with a character that I can relate with a little bit more such as other ethnicities.

that is something i find in many sci fi and fantasy books...many books like that dont explain people in enough detail...you might like paper towns, by john green. the main character is not poc but jis friend Radar is and his nationality has a lot to do with the books (hes black) it is not totally fantasy but there are some unrealistic elements to it...

Mystery: Tony Hillerman's books are from the point of view of a Navajo Detective, Jim Chee, and are pretty good.

Fantasy: Latin America is known for its Magical Realism movement which is written realistically but for a few strange moments in which reality is bent--it's not exactly fantasy, but it does contain a few elements. Authors of this genre include Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Laura Esquivel. I highly recommend Esquivel's Like Water for Chocolate.

Sci Fi: One of the stories in Bradbury's Illustrated Man is from the point of view of black people who have fled to Mars to escape white oppression.
