Is it in bad taste to talk about vacation/business trip locations when unprompted?

I get a little uncomfortable when people name drop where they're going on vacation or their business trips without being asked. There's this company a few floors below where I work that I always hear complaining about their upcoming exhausting trips to London, Tokyo or where ever. I just think its kind of pretentious to say something like, "Hey I'd love to spend time with you this weekend, but I'll be in (insert location)." I think if you're asked where you are heading for your trip, then its fine to speak up. If not, I get a little uncomfortable. Anyone agree or is it just me?

It's in poor taste. The people are boors. They must not feel very good about themselves.
What can you do about it? Try this:
Tell them to be careful over there, you hear they have alot of bedbugs in their upscale hotels. That won't be a lie, either.

No I seriously doubt they're doing it to be rude. You have no clue what it's like to travel all the time, it becomes hellish. Think about the plane rides all the time, going into one airport after another. If anything I'd feel bad for them if I were you.

Just think out of the box and put yourself in their shoes...yeah they get to see these international cities but do they actually have a few days to go exploring or are they there long enough for business then back on a plane to start it all over again?
