Think of the way that people make fun of various groups within cultures in an appropriate light - there are political jokes, religious jokes, subculture jokes, jokes about age, and so on and so forth. As long as they are done in good humor (in other words, they are done without the intention of truly harming the involved parties). For example, I drink wine, but not beer. But what can I do about it?; I'm Catholic.
So is making racial jokes (within the appropriate context, of course) the same as racism for the mere fact that it involves race, or is it more or less on an equal level as other types of jokes?
