Is there a way to see blocked text messages after blocking a number on Verizon

Call&Message Blocking? I blocked two numbers from a particular person who I just so happen to decide on cutting contact with them. They have no idea. So I was wondering if there is any way possible I could see texts they've sent to me after I blocked them.
Also, I did a test call to see what I would hear calling the person I blocked. Why was I able to hear it ring and then their voice message?

My carrier is Verizon and so is the person I blocked.

I havs an app that blocks calls and text and then it pops up on top as a notification that I can check what the text say and here messages It just wont ring if they call or give a text tone
