well the draft title is "Pausers and Players" and is set in 2030 or 2040 (I haven't made up my mind about the year yet)
Back in 2024 a scientist called Dr. Eli Parker invents a machine to temporarily 'freeze' or 'pause' your body. The machine sort of looks like a bed with a glass hatch thing over it. He tests it on himself and it works, he was in it for a week and when he woke up at the end he hadn't aged or changed in any way. He presented it to the government and they liked it. Soon in 2027 everyone has one and they use them to freeze their bodies and only wake up to 'live' for one week every month, so the human race wll last longer and have no reason to fear death (at least for a very long time).
There are soon people who stop using the machine and live everyday, Because they are living and not using the machine, they are banished from the community and start their own called the 'Player community'. They are called 'Players' because they don't 'Pause' themselves.
2030, a group of Players break into the Pauser community while everyone is 'paused', the main leader fo the group is Gabriel, he breaks into the house of the main girl in the story, Ailyn, and she 'un-pauses' right when he steps in her room. They stare at each other but don't say anything other than their names.
The Players, along with Gabreil, run back to their community but neither Ailyn or Gabriel forget each other.
Dr. Eli Parker has several interviews with the younger people of the 'Pauser' comunity, seeing if they think that his way of life is better and if they start to think that there miht be something better out there he gives them a pill to brainwash them so they think their world is best. Ailyn goes to one such interview with the Doctor but does not tell him of Gabriel or meetng the other 'Players' so the doctor thinks everything is fine with her.
Gabriel finds Ailyn again and they become friends, Gabriel tells her all about the 'Player' community and she wants to find out more but ehr life is all she knows and she is scared to become a 'Player' and start to get closer to death.
Every day of the week Gabriel takes Ailyn on different adventures, showing her that living isn't all that bad. But at the end of the weeks they spend together, Gabriel begs her to come with him but she always ends up pausing herself.
The doctor finds that she is thinking of other things outside the community and gives her the treatment pill that will brainwash her. However she breaks through it because her feelings her Gabriel surface as well as her love for living. She breaks out of the community and runs to Gabriel, crying saying that she wants to live.
The doctor and the other men of her community, find them and capture Gabriel and take him to the doctors chamber. Gabriel is tortured for 'not being right' as in he doesn't believe in thier way of life.
Ailyn rescues him and together they break away from the 'Pauser community' and for the first time in her life, Ailyn begins to live her life.
Well what do you think? I like it but Im not sure as to whether the whole Pauser community should go with them? what do you think?
