I have a standard tv with mono audio & the 80G console (the Motor Storm bundle) is plugged via a/v (yellow in the red slot, white in the white). I also have a couple PS2s that have never had a problem & i use the same hookup. I checked it on 2 other tvs besides mine,one being a little flat screen, the other a standard also & they both had all 3 slots for the red,white & yellow, but no HDMI. The menu runs smoothly &games play perfect,all with audio, but when I put in any movie, the screen goes black &stays that way (no audio),which I then have to turn the system completely off & on again to see the menu. I've gone thru all the setup for it & tested configuration, but nothing makes it work. I also called up Sony & the guy obviously didnt know anything about a Playstation & went thru the same prompts I did when trying to troubleshoot online. Then when he couldnt troubleshoot any further (surprise!), he said I need to send it in. Since i just got this thing (used) a couple weeks ago from a powerseller on Ebay, I dont have a receipt for proof of warranty, which means i would have to shell out the 150$ for Sony to 'fix' it..no thanks. I keep thinking it's still a hookup issue, since it shows games just fine,reads all discs put in & games are blue ray format anyway. I dont have a way to check an HDMI cable with it, but was wondering if that would help. I've restored default settings, to no avail, & the only other thing to try is to get my saved games off & restore the whole thing. Any others with this problem? It's really frustrating, as I now have a heavy box that only plays games..my PS2 does more than that! Help!
My PS3 won't play blue ray movies or dvds,but plays cds & games..what's wrong?

ur gonna have to send it to sony. ur wallet may bleed with the price,
