Hi i was wanting to know if i could play the ps2 game rayman arena on the new ps3 console? I really enjoy the game and im not a big fan of the new rayman games and i just didnt want to buy the game and not have it work. i looked up that some of the ps2 games will work if its 20 or 60 GB. Thanks in advance!!

If you have the newest PS3 slim, then it is not backwards compatible. The very old thick consoles can play ps and ps2 games. I have a lot of games wasting away that are ps2, they are all games I really enjoyed playing too.

Not on the newer consoles i tried it they say it needs to be on the older consoles they first made that they don't sell anymore because there is something different in them with the reading on ps2 discs.

The new PS3 consoles will not play PS2 games anymore. It was costing Sony too much money to add a second disk reader in every console so only the 20g, 60g and one of the 80g models will play it sorry =/ but there is a new Rayman game coming out on PS3 tomorrow and its not one of those stupid Raving Rabbids games. Hope this helps :)

Just like you said, only if it's a 20G or 60G. The easiest way to get one is through GameStop online but make sure you purchase the 1 year protection plan because the "fat" PS3's are known to "brick".
