question about my logitech speakers and my sound card help plz thanks?

i just got the logitech 530 5.1 speakers for surround sound
when i play then i dont hear any sound from the 2 rear speakers, i dont think i have a sound card but im pretty sure i have like an on board high definition audio that comes with the motherboard
do i need to buy a sound card?
