ok here's what happened. i picked up the car on 3/16/09 at 8a. 10 minutes after leaving the lot, i noticed the change oil soon light is on. so when i got to my destination, i called enterprise to let them know and to find out what to do. enterprise says it should be fine for the 3 days that i will have it. they asked if i wanted to trade vehicles, i said no, if you say it will be just fine then it should be fine. so yesterday, 3/18/09 at about 8pm i am on my way home from work and the car starts making a funny sound. it sounds as if it's not shifting right. this particular car (2008 chevy cobalt) has no oil or coolant gauge. i've never owned a new car, mine is a 1999, so i couldn't figure out how to check these things. so i start pressing buttons on the steering wheel and find the coolant and oil gauges. the oil level says 0% and the water gauge says it's at 220'F. so i'm freaking out. i make it home and call enterprise. of course they weren't open. so i called roadside assistance. long story short, the towing service comes 40 minutes later to pick up the car. it's almost 9pm at night, so i'm sure the tow guys couldn't see the car all that clearly. i then watched them tow the car away after getting my belongings out of it. then i am picked up by a family member to go to the airport location to get a replacement. another day goes by, and i am at work. my husband calls me at work to tell me that enterprise has left a nasty message on our answering machine saying that the car appears to have been wrecked and that there is massive front end damage to the vehicle. also they state in the message that the car is being fixed already. car they fix this car without me seeing it first? in my defense, there was NO possible way that anyone could have hit the rental car. i never backed in to a space, and i was always within eye distance of the car, unless sleeping. i tried calling enterprise, but the claims department is no help. i just have to wait until tomorrow morning. is there anyway that they can charge me with this since they didn't see the car before they hauled it away. there was no walk around by the towing service, or enterprise before it was picked up. how can they prove it was me and not the dealership they took it to to get fixed? or the towing service? this is really upsetting. if someone can help answer this, please try your best. thanks in advance.
