Stupid question, where do I put my bike lock?

As in, while I'm actually riding my bike? It's a cable one. Do I just bring a backpack with me? And if I ride to the store, do they let you bring backpacks in with you?

Haha, I'm new to bikes, so still trying to figure all the specifics out.

You put the bike lock under the seat of the bike making sure it is not hitting the chain. And no, most stores do not let you take backpacks in so you will have to leave at the front of the store.
