what are some good hiking or active dog breeds?

we have been considering mini aussies and blue heelers, but i was wondering if there are any other particularly good ones. we need a dog that is relatively small and easy to care for, but can go hiking and on long walks without getting tired too quickly. any information helps, thnx :)
i mean small like a mini aussie if possible, but definitley not anything smaller. i was shooting more for not huge and difficult to contain or restrain if needed

how about a working labrador. These are labradors specifically bred to be small. Labradors are great family pets and have plenty of energy. Our labrador is very greedy - which makes us laugh :) lol. They have short hair so there is no grooming unless they get really muddy obviously. The only thing is that you can't take them on really long hikes until they are at least a year old because otherwise when they are older they can suffer from arthritis. This goes with quite a lot of dogs. You've asked for a small dog however quite a lot of small dogs get tired quickly so you may want to re-think that option. Hope this works.
