what is a good subsitute for limewire and ares for downloading free music?

limewire has a bad reputation for crashing computers and bringing viruses. with ares, I kept recieving copyright infringement notices. I have purchased music from iTunes, but it is getting expensive and I would like to find out any other ways to get free music..
 
Frostwire, its almost identical to the old limewire but it has better security and all of it is free:)
