have a 1995 gmc safari with a 4.3 v-6 It was overheating so I replaced the thermostat (checked it first) and also the water pump and it is still running hot Why?

did you add the proper coolant mix (30% coolant and 60% distilled water) Also did you flush the coolant system their could be rust in the system. Finally the last thing I can think of is that you still have air in the system when you fill the coolant system your supposed to have the heat tuned up all the way. Also check your hoses they could be dried out and have collapsed on the inside a common thing for an older car or truck.

Radiator clogged, radiator cap not holding pressure, could also be the lower radiator hose collapsing from driving.
