What is the correct size bike for a 6 year old?

I have "adopted" a family for Christmas, and one of the children is a 6 year old boy who wants a bike. I have never seen this child, so I don't know how big he is other than he wears clothes in a size 5/6. What size bike would be the best option do you think? Thank you!
 
very small bike, one of the smallest in the store. Probably need one with training wheels too.
You could get a pair of pants off the rack and take them to the toy isle to compare bike bar to crotch of pants.
 
Your best bet is between 16"-20"
if he's 6 and wears a 5-6 then he's pretty average size for his age and more than likely a 16" bike would be a great size for him.
I've bought many a bikes for my boys. :)
 
my nephew is almost 6 and wears a size 5/6 he has this bike
