Which car transport companies hire regular people to drive cars cross country?

I'm planning on going to the midwest in the summer and a friend of mine told me about car transport companies. She said that she had to go out of state once and couldn't afford to buy a plane ticket. She used a contacted a car transport company and drove a car to whichever state she needed to go and just had to pay for the gas to get there. Does anyone know which companies do that?
 
As far as i know, car transport companies transport cars on trailers. The only reason I would ship my car through a company is if it came on the trailer. If some guy is going to be driving my car across the country, putting mileage on it, tearing up the transmission, and abusing the engine, doing doughnuts and burnouts in parking lots while he is on his way and i have to pay for that!!!?? I would rather drive it myself.
 
Most of them ship them by car transports. Not too many out there that allow them to be driven.
