Why can't my blu ray player play disc with BD-live on them?

I bought a Samsung home theater w/ blu ray a couple months ago (model HT-BD2E) I have not had a problem playing any dvds or blu ray discs until recently. I rented a blu ray disc that had, "BD-live" on the case and after taking an extremely long time to load, a message appeared on the screen in a bright red background saying my player needs updating. Has anyone else run into this problem with their blu ray player?
Why would my player need updating considering I bought it just a couple months ago? After doing some research, I found that blu ray discs with "BD live" on them are the new profile of blue ray discs also referred to as 2.0 profile. How is that possible that Samsung could sell a product that would become obsolete so fast? If my player does need some update, how do I get it. SHOULD I CONTACT THE BBB OR MY LOCAL SENATOR TO GET GOVERNMENT HELP FOR ANYONE THAT HAS BOUGHT AN OUTDATED BLU RAY PLAYER?
