I'm Jewish and I noticed that Gentiles (whether they're christians, muslims, atheists, etc) always answer Jewish questions on here with silly comments, or just plain mean comments making fun of us and our religion. Why do they always feel the need to answer questions about Judaism and Jews when they don't even know what they're talking about?
I don't care what you think of my religion, many of you don't even know anything about it, but you could at least respect it. I've asked questions on here before that have been meant for Jewish people to answer, but I get tons of anti-semitic remarks or silly comments
I don't think gentiles should be banned from answering questions on Jews and Judaism, if you actually know what you're talking about and have some good input then I think its fine, but what annoys me are all the idiotic ignorant answers and the anti-semitic ones.

There is a lot of disrespect going on here. Why don't you just say non jews are answering your questions?I haven't answered any questions on Judaism. Everybody gets made fun of here.
Some people just want the two points. Others just think they know a lot of about everything.

You might wish to be a little bit more careful swinging that generalization hammer around.

Not every goy out there who answers a Jewish question is out to slander or defame Judaism. Some of us have even had to correct Jews and let them know we're goy because they thought we were Jewish based on the quality of our answers.

Hi, I'm a dues-paying atheist member of my synagogue where everyone's surprised I haven't converted already.

Because they think they do know what they are talking about

You just noticed that people are stupid on the internet? Yes, sometimes they are, but not "always" as you've indicated, because if it were "always" that would mean that you have read, dissected, and assimilated every word ever written on the internet by gentiles in reference to Judaism, which I fail to believe could be true. You should have cited your sources, and given links to "all" of these claims. Even a statistically accurate sampling of these "always" claims would suffice for me, along with appropriate links providing evidence that what you assert is not an exaggeration or emotional response to a few things you have seen that have aggravated you.

Considering that most Christians don't really understand Christianity, and still give answers like they are in direct touch with Christ and can tell you exactly what he thinks about any situation, why shouldn't they be just as qualified to speak about Jewry?

Welcome to the club

I just love when non mormons tell me what I believe. It is like I am learning something new about my own beliefs all the time.

Two words: (Old Testament)

If anyone has read a few words in Genesis, Exodus, and Psalms to support their own religious claims, they think they're scholars on Judaism and all things Jewish related. They even take pilgrimages to Jerusalem sometimes to show a bunch of clips that still don't prove their archeological beliefs. But they can say they were there.

funny clip with Lewis Black's take on the issue:

Its too bad. I would never insult of of God's chosen. I see Jewish people as my elder brothers and sisters. I can only repeat what the bible says. Or if you will, the Torah.

People have a right to answer any question on here if they want to. Yeah if they don't know the answer they shouldn't. I guess most do it for points or whatever. But you do have a point that people will reply not just to questions about Jews but also other religions and not really know what they are talking about. I think atheists make silly and mean comments towards any religion but they will learn in the end..

Oh, I'm sorry. Did I answer a question on the Zionists Only board? My mistake. Wait a minute... that's right! This is a public forum, and if you don't want answers from "gentiles" you should GTFO :)

It is an open forum and anyone can answer any question.
I have been playing in this R&S garden for several years and of all the insults I have seen I don't recall one anti jewish one.
I don't see any one group singled out more than another.
We all take our insults, just consider the source .....so put your big girl panties on.....

I only answer them with what I know from scholarly research on Judaism. If I, being gentile, should not answer a question on Judaism, perhaps you should not answer a question on, say, botany, because you are not a plant? Just as one has an intellectual interest in something, does not mean you need to identify with it to be an expert or to give a correct answer when asked a question about something.

I would, at a wild guess, say the mean comments are a reflection of internalised racism (or perhaps simple religious discrimination), and is, in effect, emptied on questions relating to Judaism. It's not unlike how people may be highly racist on the internet, but not act it at all in real life: it's just the fact humans don't have an identity on the internet, and so feel like they can do what they like. Not that it is right, but that seems a plausible explanation.
