Why does my burned cd not play in my car stereo or radio/cd player but...

...does play on Windows Media Player? I burned a cd from itunes and played it back on Windows Media Player, but when I tried to play it in the car I get a message on my digital dial saying 'Reading text' for about 10 seconds then it reads 'Check Disc'. Do I need to change my download settings, because I've tried to choose the other option given in the settings menu and it wouldn't download anything at all?
 
Your stereo can't read whatever format the CD is in. When you burn the disc next time look for an option on iTunes or WMP for "make it playable in stereos/cd players" or "burn in audio format". This will convert the songs to a format normal cd players can read.
