Why i cannot receive clear signal when i connect my old version dvd player...

...(without HDMI) with the new led tv? i cannot receive clear signal and no image when i connect my old version DVD player (without HDMI) with the new Samsung 40 inch led TV. How to solve the problem?
i sure that it can receive the signal but i can get the true image
 
The picture format is transmitted differently with an LED TV in comparison to the older TV sets. You would need to upgrade to a newer dvd player for a better quality pic.
