whys my dvd changing screen size on and off?

When I play a DVD the screen changes from normal to wide screen on and off .its driving me mad my TV doesn’t do it and when the DVD is on without a disk it doesn’t do it but as soon as I put the DVD in it starts changing the screen size on and off can anyone help

Dear, Its in the DVD and you can switch the ratio between 16:9 to 4:3 in DVD player settings.
The wide screen is 16:9 which is also called cinema-scope and 4:3 is a TV ratio.
