Will a Standard DVD player play Blu-Ray DVDs?

I've heard both yes and no from multiple people and cant figure out the real answer. Can a Standard DVD player (old, regular) play Blu-Ray DVDs?

No. I thought the same until i actually tried putting a blu-ray disc in a dvd player.

Failed.

No it won't but Blu-ray players are going for pretty cheap nowadays. I've seen some as low as 60 to 70 bucks a pop. If I had to recommend any specific one though, it would a PS3. Of all the Blu-Ray players i've had, my PS3 has been the most reliable. A big plus is the ability to play games too.

Um no, that's like asking if you can play PS2 games on a PS1..no

Only hi-end player (like Blu-ray) can play all sort of Disk/CD
