accessory to record video straight from a dvd player to an ipod?

looking for a christmas present for the parents. they're pretty computer illiterate and have a dvd library of specialty titles. they love watching stuff on their ipod but cant figure out how to work handbrake, and with me away they're stuck with the old stuff. is there some attachment that would let them easily send video direct from their dvd player or tv?
