If it still has warranty you should try to get it fix, rather than buying a new whole unit or call the manufature company , find out how much is it to get it fixed.
 
yep. If software were involved I would say reinstall...but nope....you got bummed
 
in all likelihood, you can buy a separate dvd player, and plug it in, rather than replace the whole thing.

...new one? It's a combo TV/DVD/VHS -- which many people said was a bad idea to begin with . . .

. . . am I beginning to see that they were right?
