How do connect ps3 to hd ready TV to play DVD and Blue Ray?

It works fine for Love Film and PS3 games but when I try to watch a DVD/BR it goes blank and says signal out of range. TV is connected via a VGA and a white and red plug.
(TV doesn't have HDMI port)

First make sure you have you hdmi cable hooked up to your ps3 and your tv. Then you have to choose. Input on your tv and switch h it to either hdmi 1cable or hdmi 2cable depending on on which on you hooked your hdmi cable to. It should work after that. If it not then you may need a new hdmi cord.

You need to connect them via an HDMI Cable. VGA isn't going to cut it. Once the HMDI Cable is connected, go to Settings > Display Settings and fill in the boxes as appropriate.

Just reread, didn't see that you don't have an HDMI port.

Use a Component Cable instead, it'll have the same effect.
