I have a Sony blue ray 3d DVD player with wifi etc but its only playing in 480p?

I set it up on my tv pretty simple it only came with an HDMI cable and the red white and yellow cables, I plugged both cables into my hd tv and it plays in 480p I tried only plugging the HDMI cable in and it still only plays in 480p. Is there somethin I'm doing wrong?

2 things: 1 what is your source Media? Bluray, dvd? 2 Check your settings on your tv and player make sure everything is set properly. Also you won't need the composite a/v cable. HDMI will carry everything.
