Is the PS3 a better Blue Ray player than Panasonic Blue Ray players?

I have a BT-300 Panasonic player with the 2.0 BLue Ray format. I am not convinced the PS3 is the best player out there. I have heard however that in playing regular dvd discs, the PS3 is the best upscaler compared to other Blue Rays which also upscale.
Please provide your experience. Thanks
 
Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on blu ray disc players. Panasonic has had a blu ray disc player and sony PS3 each year being recommended. Sony stand alone players do not stan up to the Panasonic, Sony is not as reliable as the Panasonic. I still use my first generation player from Panasonic model BD-10, which is over 4 years old and never had one problem playing over 300 blu ray disc movies. Hope this will help you out.
