My blu-ray player only plays regular dvd's but not blu-ray, what is going on?

I have an XV-BP10 JVC blu-ray player and even after the software update it still will not play blu-ray discs only the regular dvds.
 
Unplug the power cord and then plug the power cord again after more than five seconds.
