My wife made a joke that I smelled like sex coming home that actually upset me.

Am I just overreacting? After basketball today, my wife gave me a kiss and said I smelled like sex. To me that's like saying, "did you just have sex with someone else?"

It's been a couple of hours but I still keep thinking about her comment that I did not appreciate. I'm not questioning her faith in me but it does bring up things from the past. I would never cheat on my wife and all of our friends and family know I love and adore her.

Should I just get over it? Tell her comments like that are not funny but actually hurtful?
 
She's just being honest- you smelt sweaty and that's how you get when your having sex with HER ...I guess?
 
If you KNOW she said it to be humorous, you are over reacting. On the other hand, if you feel she was being accusatory, the proper reaction in a husband would not be hurt or anger, but instead, concern as to why she would mistrust you. You hint at it bringing up things from the past. Yet, you do not elaborate so it is hard to give you further advice.
