My favorite series of all time at the moment is Codex Alera.
Has an EXCEEDINGLY well thought out and complex plot, world building, magic system, character dev, etc.
Other series i liked was:
--Sword of Shannara series ( Nice world building, plot, generally a standard fantasy set up but still good.
--Inheritance Series (Eragon, Eldest, and the like. Loving it.)
--Tom Clancy: Jack Ryan Series (Not fantasy or SciFi, but the complexity of the plot and politics as well as the detail of tactics, battles, etc is superb. The character building in Executive Orders was the best in my opinion.)
--Dune series (Iv'e yet to read it all but from the few i have read i am astounded at the scope of it all. Every now and again it would get difficult to read due to the excessive introspection, but that's what makes Dune what it is.)
--Alex Rider Series (Teenage Spy saves world multiple times. What more is there to say?)
-- Faerie Wars ( Again, not the epic I'm looking for in terms of huge gory detailed battles, but a great read none the less )
--Artemis Fowl (not really that epic but was still a fun read)
-- Leviathan (I forgot name of the series, but its WW1 where C.Darwin inspired the allies to invest in biological innovations while axis powers relied more on machines. Fun read, waiting for the third book.)
There are a couple other series I've read but cant name at the moment.
Ideas?
I also like Ender's Game, and i'm a fan of the futuristic sci-fi style as well, i just cant think of too many Sci-Fi epics that satisfy to the extent im looking for.
I am not looking for Harry Potter type books, I'm not fond of that type of magic system and make an effort to stay away from it. (Read the first book in Dresden files, not continuing)
