Why aren't the speakers in my home theatre system working properly?

I recently reconnected our home theatre system after a move. All the speakers, 5 of them plus the subwoofer, are correctly connected to the back of the receiver. When we do a speaker test however, the left stereo speaker doesn't make any sound. Instead the right stereo speaker compensates for it instead. I also noticed that the subwoofer isn't working properly either. The light is on indicating power is getting through and there is a faint sound coming from it, but not like it used to. Could the other stereo speaker be compensating for the two that aren't working right?

try diffrent speakers 1st to establish if its dodgy speakers or it could be that certain channels are not working ... try looking at reviews for your product to see if there are common faults with your model/make . if so and your in warranty just take it back and get a replacement (dont tell them it happend when you moved)...lol...or have you just played it too loud and blown them ???.......
