Why do people bother to answer questions in religion and spirituality if they...

...themselves are not religious? I cannot understand why people should want to answer questions in a category that offends them. I know some people here like to just answer for the sake of gaining points and that their answer has got very little to do with the question being asked. Surely they should avoid such categories if they don't like religious topics shouldn't they?
What do you think and why?

Well - I'm an atheist but...

I'm happy to pass on my opinion on theological questions if I feel the input from my point of view would evoke debate !

Just because I'm an atheist - doesn't exclude me from contributing !
