Why do people buy BMW 3 series when Acura & Nissan are equal yet less $?

Is this just people that want to buy a BMW to feel good about themselves?
Status symbol of bmw which has lost its lust from before..
I mean Acura & Nissan Altima are comparable to a BMW 3 series..
What is the point of spending more?
 
You go sit in one and you drive it on the highway, take some turns, smash on the brakes, and you'll see why.
 
one or more may apply to any given person

1: people become branded: if they like a company for one reason, they will look for other reasons to like it

2: people are stupid: they will buy things on a whim or without much planning

3: people are professionals: but rarely will they have the patience for something they aren't invested in. if someone spends years focused on something such as graphic design, they probably won't want to become an expert whenever they make a purchase
