I've been told by some friends that PAL or NTSC doesn't apply to Blue Ray, and that the only thing that really matters is something called 'region code.' Is this correct? The disc in question is a limited release from an independent European film maker, it's called "Alone in the Zone."

Do region codes only apply to big commercial films, or all blue ray discs?

Anyone in the US have this particular blue ray movie, and does it work on your US-spec player?

thanks.

Every country has a different standard when it comes to video and will not play in other countries. This apart of the copy write, to prevent it from coping and selling in other countries. You can also purchase a universal player that can play any dvd or blu ray disc from other countries. Hope this will help you out.

Actually there is a good chance that it will work, but not guarantee blu ray disks have a region code just like DVD;s do how ever with blu ray unlike DVD 70% of he blu ray disks being produced are actually region free, so there is good chance it might work on your blu ray player but its not guaranteed
