Buying a Porsche as a driving Vehicle, Bad Idea? People with car

knowledge only please? I'm a military guy who has been looking at cars and is going to buy one soon, I had been looking at newer Lincoln LS's, Buicks and 300c's at which point I realized at my price range i could buy a fairly new Porsche Boxter for the prices i've been looking at. I don't really have anybody else I would need to drive around I don't carry that much stuff around so the trunk should be fine. I'm pretty sure i can handle the insurance, What I need to know is if anyone sees any problems with driving it quite a lot around the country, how many miles can they usually take?
 
The cars you've listed are all pretty laid-back cruisers that are very comfortable to drive. Porsches are generally set up for handling and therefore are a bit stiffer. If you want something to bend your mind in the corners then the Porsche would be a good choice, if you would rather something that rides like a sofa then stick to the Lincolns, Buicks, Chryslers, etc.

Maintenance on any German car is ludicrous, and Porsches are some of the worst. They aren't unreliable, but anything you do will be expensive. Tires, oil changes, brake jobs, coolant flushes, every bit of regular maintenance will cost you several times more than a Japanese or Domestic car.
 
Well IMO,just because my best friend has a porsche, but he is a doctor, the cost on repairs is pretty insane, even oil changes. So if you have the $$ then go for it, otherwise id say buy something else. It's kind of funny people buy these cars and forget about the upkeep, not you by the way, but my Mom just bought a BMW covertible and her cats are messed up yea 3k dollars later their fixed. But yea depending on your cash flow id stick with what you can afford. Not saying you cant afford this car but just sayin.
