LG BD350 blu-ray player connect to a 5.1 home theatre speakers?

Hi. I have recently bought an LG BD350 blu-ray player. Someone on eBay is selling an LG 5.1 surround sound home theatre system but without the DVD player. Basically the sub and 5 speakers. Dumb question - I presume this won't connect up to my player to give a 5.1 surround sound? Do I need a seperate amp or receiver?
 
you will need a seperate av receiver due to your blu-ray player wont have a built in amp
