Motorbike question! Is a Honda vfr 750 a good bike to start out riding on?

Or would it be smarter to start riding on a Kawasaki Ninja 250?

I want to start riding in the near future! (I'm aware of the courses I'll have to take before I start riding, or having my permit)

Can anyone explain to me anything about motorbikes in general? What do the numbers mean? LOL. (750, 250..etc.) I'm honestly clueless and have never thought about riding a bike until my friend took me on his and realized what a rush you get. No, I'm no adrenaline junkie

But, I'd like to know everything there is to know! Whatever you feel is obligated to know before riding, it's greatly appreciated.

A 750 is too big and powerful for a beginner. Even the 250 is questionable. I started out on a 50cc Suzuki back in the early 70's. I learned a lot on that small bike. I eventually moved on up to a 750 and later an 1100 once I gained enough skill and confidence. Don't be in a hurry to go up in engine size.
The larger the number, the larger and more powerful the engine of the bike is.
When I was a beginner there were a lot of Honda 90's around and lots of bikers got their start on them.
The bikes these days are far more powerful than the bikes of the same size engine were 20 or 30 years ago. Now a 500 is equal or even superior to an older 750.
If you are in an area where you can learn off-road I recommend going that route before going against cars and trucks. A small dirt bike will teach you the basics of handling and traction and get you used to the power without making you a target for police.
